As a Buckeye fan, I felt that I should apologize for my conduct this past weekend. Following the recent game between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, I was walking down the street and made a rather rude comment regarding the quality of the Texas Longhorns football team. This was created by a certain frustration with the game, combined with the application of drink to an extreme degree, as well as a significant dollop of the "sour grapes" mentality that I despise in sports fans. Thus, I became exactly what I hate and I apologize to the Longhorn Nation as a whole for my conduct. Unfortunately, the Longhorn Nation does not have an email address to which I should address my apology, so this will have to suffice.
My exclamation is especially troubling to me, because I happen to respect the University of Texas, Longhorn football, and its fans to the utmost degree, especially considering how friendly they were during their stay in Columbus. Thus, I would like to offer my most sincere apologies to any Longhorn fans who heard my rather loud statement.
However, the thing that really cheeses me off about that game and its aftermath is the simple fact that I watched one of the gutsiest performances that I have ever seen on both sides of the ball, combined with a tremendous comeback created by supreme leadership and courage in the most trying of circumstances, in addition to a fantastic game that will be long remembered by both teams, though for different reasons. And the thing that is so frustrating to me is that I was watching that superlative performance and I never even had the chance to enjoy it.
